THE TOWN OF MACEDON ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING WAS HELD ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2001 AT THE TOWN COMPLEX, 30 MAIN STREET, MACEDON, NEW YORK. PRESENT WERE, CHAIRMAN WARREN JEFFRIES, MEMBERS, HELEN SAVERSKY, SUE BUSH AND CHARLIE PACKARD. ALSO PRESENT WAS TOWN COUNCILMAN DAVID MAUL. ABSENT WAS BUILDING AND ZONING OFFICER, MARIO FIORAVANTI.
Mr. Jeffries called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Jeffries explained the purpose for which this board serves and read the legal notice as it appeared in the “Times”.
PUBLIC HEARING:
Norman Soucy / 412 Route 31 / Area Variance Section 135-61-b-5 / existing
barn to be located in front of new home to be built
Bob Seely addressed the board stating that Mr. Soucy would like to
have his new house built behind the existing accessory building on this
property. He also told the Zoning Board that his overall plan had
already been presented to the Planning Board for their review. Sue
asked if the property extended all the way to the road. Norm told
her that there was a common driveway for all properties. It was determined
that the parcel was 2.235 acres. No one else was present to speak
for or against the granting of this variance.
-Planning Board had no comment on this application
-Town Board was against this approval due to lack of planning in it's
whole. The town board would like to see a more comprehensive plan
for this property.

Jacques Savoie / 2687 Macedon Center Road / Area Variance Section 135-61-a
and 135-61-b-4 / would like to build second garage on property larger than
allowed by town code for storage of a motor home
Jacques Savoie was present to address the board stating that he would
like to build a second garage in the back of his lot measuring 60'x30'x25'
(changed from the application stating 66'x29'x25'). He stated that
this would be the same as the house height with an overhead door 12' high
and 10' wide. This garage is to be used for the storage of a motor
home, lawn mowers, etc. and not to be used for animals or commercial use.
Jacques stated that he was given some trusses, and if he uses them all,
and puts them 16" on center that determines the length of the building.
He continued to state that there would be one overhead door facing west
and one passthrough door. The 15' side and back setbacks should not
be an issue. Jacques does have an existing 1 1/2-car garage.
Diane Savoie, wife, was present to speak in favor, no one was present to
speak against this application.

-Town Board was against due to concerns with the size would like
additional information.

BOARD DISCUSSION
Norman Soucy / 412 Route 31 / Area Variance - Section 135-61-b-5 / Existing

A motion was made by Helen Saversky to grant this variance under Section
135-61-b-5 for 412 Route 31, seconded by Sue Bush. Helen began conversation
on this application by stating that a more comprehensive plan for this
project would be helpful. Sue stated that he was in previously for
another variance for this project and had made mention of this to the zoning
board at that time, she also had concerns with the planning of this site
development. Five factors concerning an area variance were reviewed.
Roll Vote: Saversky-no Packard-no Bush-no Jeffries-no
A motion was made by Sue Bush to deny this variance, seconded by Helen
Saversky.
Roll Vote: Saversky-yes Packard-yes Bush-yes Jeffries-yes
Therefor this variance is denied.
A not was made to Bob Seely that a more comprehensive plan for this project should be developed.

and 135-61-b-4 / would like to build a second garage on property larger
than allowed by town code for storage of a motor home
A motion was made by Charles Packard to grant this variance under Section
135-61-a and 135-61-b-4 for 2687 Macedon Center Road with an 18 month abandonment
clause, seconded by Sue Bush. Again the discussion was had in classifying
this structure as a barn or garage, the application states barn.
It was determined that the application should read garage and was amended.
The only comments noted were concerning the size. Five factors concerning
an area variance were reviewed.
Roll Vote: Saversky-yes Packard-yes Bush-yes
Jeffries-yes Therefor this variance is granted.
OTHER BUSINESS
Mt. Tony Villani, joined the meeting at 8:30pm and was introduced to the Board members as the new Town Attorney.
Interviews were conducted with each of the Zoning Board of Appeals applicants for the vacant board seat. It was the recommendation of the board that John Gravino fill this position and the alternate candidate for consideration would be Joe Ostowsky.
MINUTES Minutes from December 12, 2000 were present for reviewed. Approved with amendments.
