AARP Tax-Aide, an
AARP Foundation program, is available free to taxpayers with low and moderate
income, with special attention to those 60 and older. The volunteers are IRS trained and certified on an annual basis.
AARP Tax-Aide helps low- to moderate-income individuals. Volunteers assist taxpayers with their tax
returns and ensuring they receive applicable tax credits and deductions.
Ron Tucker would like to expand from the current location in
Victor. Currently 5% of the individuals
that take advantage of this service in Victor are from Wayne County. This service is free of charge to the
taxpayer, however, requires the use of a facility with setup, an individual to
make appointments, copier services, and paper.
All returns are electronically filed.
The Town would be asked to let the public know by including information
in their newsletter, senior newsletter, parks and recreation newsletter,
posting in the library and on the web site.
Mr. Tucker provides his personal address and phone number should there
be any questions with the tax returns.
AARP operates this out of scope and under no legal obligation. Services would be available from February 1
through April 15 on Tuesday mornings.
It was the consensus that this would be a good service provided to our
seniors.
RESOLVED the Board approves the
minutes of June 23, 2011 as presented.
