The Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Macedon held May 9, 2002 at the Town Complex, 1675 North Wayneport Road, in the Town of Macedon, was called to order by Supervisor William H. Hammond at 7:30 p.m.

RESOLUTION NO. 146 (02) EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK OF
MAY 19-25, 2002 PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, emergency medical services is a vital public service; and
WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury; and
WHEREAS, emergency medical services providers have traditionally served as the safety net of America’s health care system; and
WHEREAS, emergency medical services teams consist of emergency medical technicians, paramedics, emergency physicians, emergency nurses, firefighters, educators, administrators, and others; and
WHEREAS, over three-fourths of emergency medical services providers in Wayne County are volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career
or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and
continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills; and

WHEREAS, Americans benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these highly trained individuals; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments of emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value of the accomplishments of emergency medical services providers by designating Emergency Medical Services Week; and
WHEREAS, injury prevention and the appropriate use of the EMS system will help reduce national health care costs; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, William Hammond, Town of Macedon, in recognition of this event do hereby proclaim the week of May 19-25, 2002 as
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK
And encourage the community to observe this week with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.

3. A memo dated April 25, 2002 from Bill Laddle, EMS Coordinator containing
EMS response data.
4. Governor Pataki has declared 2002 as the “Year of Clean Water” and
October 2002 as “Clean Water Month”.
5. Scott Allen informed the Board in a memo dated May 3, 2002 that
a building permit application to modify the existing Crown Atlantic communication
tower located on Science Hill at Route 350 and 31F has been submitted.
The proposed modification consists of the addition of Voice Stream as a
co-locator on the existing tower. Mr. Allen will perform a technical
review of the plans and issue a building permit.
6. NYS Office of the State Comptroller announcement of satellite teleconferences
for 2002
7. A Journey to Everest at Gananda High School Auditorium presented
by Terry LaFrance on Friday, May 10, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. Donations
will be accepted towards Gananda Dollars For Scholars Eagle Scholarship
8. An invitation from NYSEG to a complimentary dinner and brief safety
program on damage prevention related to excavation activities to be held
June 6, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the American Legion Home in Geneva.
9. A letter dated May 6, 2002 from Time Warner informing the Town of
their merger with Advance/Newhouse.
10. Senator Joseph Bruno thanked Supervisor Hammond for his correspondence
in support of the expansion of the Empire Zone Program.
RESOLUTION NO. 147 (02) MACEDON GARDEN CLUB
RESOLVED the Board authorizes the Macedon Garden Club to purchase a
sign and plants for planting near the Bullis Park sign not to exceed $150.00
to be expensed from A7110.400.

8:00 PM - PUBLIC HEARING – PROPOSED LOCAL LAW #1 – TO AMEND SECTION 34-2 OF THE CODE OF THE TOWN OF MACEDON
RESOLUTION NO. 148 (02) READING OF THE LEGAL NOTICE WAIVED
RESOLVED that the reading of the legal notice be waived.

Supervisor Hammond read the legal notice published in the April 22, 2002 issue of the Times to help inform the audience. Proof of Notice having been furnished, the Public Hearing was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Supervisor Hammond.
Proposed Local Law No. 1 of 2002 would amend Section 34-2 of the Code of the Town of Macedon by changing the definition of “substantial area’ or “substantial portion” of an Adult Bookstore and Adult Entertainment Establishment from 50% of business or activity to 10% of business or activity.
All persons desiring to be heard, hearing none, the Hearing was closed.

RESOLVED to pay Paul Davis Restoration an amount not to exceed $3,945
