TOWN OF MACEDON

PLANNING BOARD

June 1, 2020

PRESENT:  Chairman Doug Allen, Members Mert Bartels, Mark McEwen, Greg Whitney, Suzanne Airy, Kevin Rooney, Tom Morrison, and Mark McEwen.  Also present were Town Councilman David McEwen, Town Engineer Scott Allen and Board Clerk Brandi Schutt.  

Chairman Doug Allen called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m.

PUBLIC HEARINGS:

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to waive the reading of the legal notice, seconded by Mark McEwen. All in favor (Bartels absent); motion carried.

PB-02-20 – Hitchcock – 680 Turner Road – Preliminary/Final

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to open the public hearing, seconded by Mark McEwen. All in favor (Bartels absent); motion carried.

No one present to speak in favor or against.

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to close the public hearing, seconded by Suzanne Airy. All in favor (Bartels absent); motion carried.

PB-03-20 – Norsen – 2322 Magog Road – Preliminary/Final

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to open the public hearing, seconded by Suzanne Airy. All in favor (Bartels absent); motion carried.

No one present to speak in favor or against.

PB-04-20 – Vega / VIP Fit – 240 NYS Route 31

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to open the public hearing, seconded by Suzanne Airy. All in favor (Bartels absent); motion carried.

Colin and Cheryl Vega were present to address the board regarding their application. They expressed that the new position of their facility will bring in new patrons from surrounding communities.

Don Lewis was present to address the board on behalf of the application. He explained that there will be a new pump station and that it already has water, gas, and electric.

Steve and John Nardozzi were present to speak against the application. Steve Nardozzi explained the documentation he previously provided to the board.

Town Engineer Scott Allen discussed that he received 3 letters by email in favor of the facility.

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to close the public hearing, seconded by Suzanne Airy. All in favor; motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

PB-02-20 – Hitchcock – 680 Turner Road

Motion made by Mert Bartels to issue a negative declaration on SEQRA, seconded by Kevin Rooney. All in favor; motion carried.

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to grant final site plan approval, seconded by Suzanne Airy. All in favor; motion carried.

PB-03-20 – Norsen – 2322 Magog Road

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to issue a negative declaration on SEQRA, seconded by Mert Bartels. All in favor; motion carried.

Motion made by Kevin Rooney to grant final subdivision and site plan approval, seconded by Suzanne Airy. All in favor; motion carried.

PB-04-20 – Vega / VIP Fit – 240 NYS Route 31

Town Engineer Scott Allen explained that he asked the Town Attorney David Fulvio to be present during the meeting for him to review all the information. The application will be put on a future agenda allowing the Town Attorney to review and advise on it.

A motion to approve the 05-04-20 minutes was made by Suzanne Airy, seconded by Mert Bartels. All in favor; motion carried.
