TOWN OF MACEDON

PLANNING BOARD

March 19,2018

PRESENT: Chairman Doug Allen, members Mark McEwen, Suzanne Airy, Tom Morrison, Kevin Rooney and Mert Bartels. Also present were Town Engineer Scott Allen and Board Clerk Brandi Schutt. Absent were Greg Whitney and Town Councilman David McEwen.

Chairman Allen called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS:

PB-06-18 – First Baptist Church – 58 Main St. – Sign Permit

Richard Knowles was present to address the board on behalf of the application. He explained that the First Baptist Church would like a new digital sign to replace the current sign. The new sign would be taller and rotated 90 degrees. Town Engineer Scott Allen explained what the village code states along with the overlay district. He explained that any sign in the prior village has to be approved by the Planning Board. Mr. Knowles answered questions from the board stating that the new sign will not be flashing and will change about once a week with a timer to shut it off at night. He also mentioned there will be no advertising done on the sign and that it will be for Church purposes only. Concerns were brought up about the size of the sign and the DOT’s interest in a sign on their highway.

A motion to approve the 03-05-18 minutes was made by Suzanne Airy, seconded by Kevin Rooney. All in favor; minutes approved.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Mark McEwen, seconded by Kevin Rooney. All in favor; meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
