PLANNING BOARD

Monday, August 31, 2015

PRESENT: Chairman Doug Allen and members Suzanne Airy, Mark McEwen, Tom Morrison, Kevin Rooney and Greg Whitney. Also present were Town Councilman David McEwen, Town Engineer Scott Allen and Board Clerk Susan Bush. Absent was Mert Bartels.

Chairman Allen called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS:

PB-09-15 – Harv’s/Webster Ridge Runners – 3210 Kittering Road – Special authorization/temporary use permit – Snowmobile grass races – This was referred from the Town Board for a Planning Board recommendation. Kim Wyman of Harv’s Harley-Davidson was present to explain the request. Webster Ridge Runners would like to hold a one-day event of snowmobile grass races on Saturday, October 24^th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Harv’s will not be running the event, but is providing the location. The race “track” will be on the air strip, approximately ¼ mile off the road. There will be food trucks, antique snowmobile displays and snowmobile dealers. This is a rain or shine event, and they expect 50-60 participants with 500 to 1,000 spectators. Board members were provided maps of the property indicating parking, pits, fencing, spectator areas, race track, etc. Harv’s dealership has held other large events and has experience with traffic and parking. Signs will be placed on Kittering Road the day of the event.

A motion was made by Kevin Rooney, seconded by Tom Morrison, to give a positive referral to the Town Board for this Temporary Use Permit. All in favor (Bartels absent); motion carried.

MINUTES:

A motion to approve the 08-24-15 minutes was made by Suzanne Airy, seconded by Mark McEwen. All in favor (Bartels absent); minutes approved.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Suzanne Airy, seconded by Mark McEwen. All in favor (Bartels absent); meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
